Traditionally also in the last trimester of pregnancy the woman is sent back to her maternal home so that she can be given the tender loving care that only her mother is capable of giving her. A rich treasury of traditional practices-which have stood the test of time-such as dietary restriction, medicinal herbs, child care practices etc are also handed down from mother to daughter during this period. Unfortunately, such practices are fast being lost with our so called ‘civilised’ lifestyles. |
